The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon Renewed For A Final Season, And This Is How It Should End

It was recently confirmed that The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon has been renewed for a fourth season, but that will also be the final one of this European spin-off. Audiences have been able to follow Daryl’s journey alongside longtime friend Carol Peltier, and the fact that it will continue is pleasing news to many fans.

However, now that people know The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon is coming to an end, the focus has turned to how that will happen. While there are many ways that the show could be brought to an end, there is one obvious option that should be taken to provide the biggest impact possible.

Daryl Dixon Should Die At The End Of Season Four

It Would Wrap Up The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon With A Bang

The news that The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon is ending will shock many people, simply because this is a franchise that constantly churns out content. It was made clear during the San Diego Comic-Con panel that a specific end is planned for this show, and that has most people thinking that the plan might be for Daryl to die. While that would be a shocking moment and a big risk to take, it’s also something that the show should do. The reason The Walking Dead became so popular in the first place was that the series was willing to take risks, often meaning killing off important characters. That tone was set from the first season, and it never wavered; yet, in the spin-offs, many of the more established characters have often been kept a little too safe.

That’s something that would change if The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon had the lead character die in the final season, and it would then benefit the entire franchise moving forward. Regardless of what else is planned for The Walking Dead universe, fans will know that nobody is safe anymore, including the original characters who have often seemed protected in these shows. That would be beneficial to them, as it might be enough to bring back any lapsed fans to future shows.

There’s Little Else For Daryl Dixon To Do In The Walking Dead

An Epic Death Seems Like The Logical Ending For Daryl Dixon

The Walking Dead Daryl Dixon Spinoff AMC

Daryl has been a crucial part of the success of The Walking Dead franchise, having been involved in the original series since the third episode. His character arguably evolved more than any other throughout the series, transitioning from someone who prioritized his own survival to becoming a man who cared about others and did his best to help as many people as possible. Throughout the franchise, Daryl has endured a great deal, from witnessing people he has grown close to, such as Beth, die in front of him, to helping Rick Grimes and the rest of the core group win numerous epic battles against zombies and humans alike. He’s been in funny and heartbreaking scenes, with the character being pushed and pulled in all sorts of directions. But at this stage, it’s hard to see what else there is for Daryl to do in this universe, with this spin-off series having even taken him to Europe. The one thing that Daryl’s character hasn’t experienced is an epic death, which is something that so many of the greatest Walking Dead characters have had, whether it be Glenn or Hershel. While that would mean a definitive end for Daryl within this franchise, which is a significant decision to make if there are plans for it to continue in some form, it would create one final memorable storyline for him that, if done right, would be something fans will always remember.

Daryl Dixon’s Storyline Needs To Have An Ending For Fans

Seeing Him Sacrifice Himself For Others Would Be A Fitting Finale For The Walking Dead Icon

Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus) in The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon

Daryl has always been a brilliant fighter, and throughout The Walking Dead franchise, he has had no problem throwing himself into danger. It has helped shape who he is, but after so long, it stops being believable that he will continue to survive and get lucky. That’s where having him die would be a sensible ending, because in this particular franchise, happy endings don’t really exist. The end for most characters is a death scene, and the focus then shifts to making it as compelling and interesting as possible. That’s what Daryl deserves, and is also something that a lot of the fans will likely be hoping for as well. Simply seeing Daryl ride off into the distance might seem like a nice way to end his time on the show, but it would leave people always asking what happened to him and wondering if he lived on for years to come. Ultimately, a franchise built around a zombie apocalypse has a common end for everyone involved, and The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon should provide that for Norman Reedus’ character, offering the ultimate closure.
