The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon Season 3 Adds First 5 New Cast Members

The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon season 3 will be adding five new cast members to the ongoing spinoff as the show continues to film in Spain. Although Daryl Dixon season 2 has yet to be released, season 3 was formally announced during San Diego Comic-Con in July 2024. The forthcoming season is currently being filmed in Spain, although with the previous batch of episodes still unaired, little has been revealed about what to expect in the follow-up. However, it’s clear France is just the start for Daryl and Carol as they continue to traverse an undead world overseas.

The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon Season 3 Adds First 5 New Cast Members

According to ComicBookfive newcomers to Daryl Dixon season 3 were announced at the annual TV festival, FesTVal, in Victoria-Gasteiz, three of whom will be joining as series regulars. The series regulars joining the zombie show are Eduardo Noriega, Óscar Jaenada, and Alexandra Masangkay, while two recurring roles will be filled by Candela Saitta and Hugo Arbués. Creator and showrunner David Zabel spoke about the cast, briefly teasing Daryl and Carol’s adventures in Spain for season 3. Check out what Zabel had to say below:

As we look forward to the show's return for season two, we're excited to be back on set with Norman, Melissa and this great cast, alongside a fantastic local crew in Spain, whose expertise and creative vision are pivotal in bringing these landscapes to life and adding a new culturally rich dimension to the series. We're excited for fans to witness the reunion of these two beloved characters in season two and to continue crafting the next chapter in the 'Caryl' journey here in Spain.

What Daryl Dixon’s New Cast Members Mean For Season 3

The Show’s Story Is Evolving As The Journey Continues

Daryl Dixon season 3 is scheduled to premiere on AMC and AMC+ in 2025, continuing Daryl and Carol’s journey following the currently unknown events of season 2. The official synopsis confirms the pair will be looking for a way back to America, but will encounter unknown obstacles as they come across various survivors in Spain. With the identities of the new characters currently under wraps, there’s no telling who will be a friend or a foe once the core duo arrive in their next European country.

Since Daryl Dixon season 1 ended with a cliffhanger by reintroducing Carol, season 2 is likely to do something similar, setting the stage for season 3’s adventure through Spain. However, there's no official word yet on what the location change means for character like Isabel and Laurent introduced in the first two seasons. Zabel previously confirmed season 3 will consist of six episodes, though, meaning there should be enough time for the new characters to balance out with the two leads and whoever accompanies them from France.

While the casting announcements are a bit early, since season 2 has yet to air, the number of new characters reflects the major shift in location season 3 will bring to the table. Even though it's still unknown how other characters in Daryl Dixon will factor into Daryl and Carol's trek across Spain, that news is probably being saved until after season 2 wraps up. For now, the casting choices are a promising glimpse into the show's future, making it clear there's a long-term plan that will soon come to fruition.
