The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon has been a huge success, and one of the most popular Walking Dead spinoff projects. The show offers a fresh and unique take on the zombie apocalypse, taking place in Europe while also continuing the story of fan-favorite charater Daryl Dixon. In season 2, which premieres in September, Daryl will reunite with his friend Carol (Melissa McBride). And looking ahead to season 3, the duo foray across the border to Spain. Viva España!
Given the huge success of its first season, AMC promptly handed Daryl Dixon a two-season renewal, with more likely in the works. Season 2 — subtitled The Book of Carol — continues Daryl's story in France, where he now lives in a new community inside the iconic commune at Mont Saint-Michel. And, of course, Carol is on her way to France to join him. Reedus previously teased that this new season has the most epic finale in Walking Dead history. Check out the trailer:
In a post on X, the official Walking Dead page shared a behind-the-scenes clip of both Norman Reedus and Melissa McBride in sunny Spain. "Hola amigos!" Reedus said. "We're so happy to be shooting season 3 here in beautiful Spain." To which McBride joyfully added: "Vamos! Let's go, Vamos!"
With the series switching settings to Spain, fans have already come up with several interesting fan theories. The most surprising one suggests that Daryl and Carol may run into Jeffrey Grimes, the brother of original series hero Rick Grimes. While this may sound ridiculous, Rick does have a brother in The Walking Dead comics. In a one-shot story by Brian K. Vaughan, titled The Alien, we meet Jeffrey in Spain and follow a small part of his journey. However, Rick Grimes in the TV show has never mentioned a brother, so to introduce one now would be rather odd.
