The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon Season 3 Is Officially Breaking A Series-Long Episode Tradition

The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon season 3 is officially breaking a series-long episode tradition, which was revealed at San Diego Comic-Con. Daryl Dixon season 3 is taking Daryl and Carol to Spain, helping a group of survivors against a nefarious antagonist that's set on lording over them. It will be the second-to-last season of the Europe-based spinoff.

The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon Season 3 Is Officially Breaking A Series-Long Episode Tradition

During The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon's panel at San Diego Comic-Con, it was revealed that season 3 will consist of seven episodes instead of the series' usual six-episode count. This means the final two seasons of the show will both be longer than the first two, with season 4 also confirmed to have eight episodes.

What Daryl Dixon Season 3's Episode Count Means For The Show

Spain's Adventure Is Going To Be Much Bigger

Seasons 1 and 2 of the spinoff only had six episodes each, bringing the total number of episodes Daryl was in France to 12. Daryl Dixon season 2 ended with the promise of a much bigger adventure. He and Carol traversed through the Chunnel to get to the UK. This, of course, is not their final destination in season 3.

However, it seems their journey across Spain is going to be much larger, lasting a total of 15 episodes between seasons 3 and 4Daryl Dixon season 4 was already confirmed to end the series, with the final episodes starting to film in Spain later this month. Whatever dangers Daryl and Carol face, it'll be their biggest challenge so far.

This also means spending more time with the new characters in Daryl Dixon, whose presence will be important for a much longer period of time. Since the core duo are going to be involved in a major conflict to protect people who took them in, it seems like the faces they meet will have plenty of importance to their overall journey.

The Walking Dead: Dead City season 2 was the first spinoff to break the six-episode count, coming in at eight episodes.

Our Take On Daryl Dixon Season 3's Increased Episode Count

A Good Sign For The Show's Final Story Arc

With Daryl Dixon season 3 offering seven episodes instead of six, it seems like the show's next storyline will be much more expansive. All that's known for sure as of writing is that Daryl and Carol will be helping a survivor group against another that has them under their thumb, leading to a massive, deadly conflict.

But, with the number of episodes both Daryl Dixon seasons 3 and 4 are sporting, the scale of what's happening seems like it hasn't been fully revealed just yet. The story may be even larger than the show has revealed thus far, justifying why the episode count is so large. It builds plenty of excitement for Daryl and Carol's adventure.
