Where Daryl and Carol travel, danger seems to follow! This time they are continuing their European trek and headed to Spain. The trailer for The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon season 3 was revealed during the show’s Hall H panel at San Diego Comic Con and will premiere on September 7, 2025, at 6 p.m. PT / 9 p.m. ET on AMC and AMC+.
It was also revealed during Comic Con that the series was renewed for a fourth and final season, which will start production in the fall soon after the season three premiere date. Star of the series Norman Reedus commented on the show/character’s longevity and promises that it will “conclude in a satisfying way” for fans.
Season three of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon tracks Carol (McBride) and Daryl (Reedus) as they continue their journey towards home and the ones they love. As they struggle to find their way back, the path takes them farther astray, leading them through distant lands with ever-changing and unfamiliar conditions as they witness the various effects of the Walker apocalypse.
Reedus also announced that Ride with Norman Reedus will return for season seven, debuting after The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon’s second episode on Sunday, September 14 at 11pm ET on AMC and AMC+. Ride follows motorcycle enthusiast Reedus as he embarks on epic road trips around the world and each episode features Reedus and a riding companion – a fellow actor, musician, or friend, exploring local culture and seeking adventure on the road. Guests this season include Robert Patrick (Tulsa King; Peacemaker), Kim Coates (The Walking Dead: Dead City; Sons of Anarchy) and Zahn McClarnon (Dark Winds) with special appearances by Gimple, McBride and Nicotero.
During a press conference for the upcoming season, producers Scott M. Gimple and David Zabel were asked to comment on the time-line in which the The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon takes place and Zabel was able to confirm that the show “picks up six months after the end of the original The Walking Dead series”. Gimple went on to joking reference that “the character of Carl Grimes, played by actor Chandler Riggs went though a growth spurt that may have left some views confused at the time”.
Gimple also added, “Walking Dead will always exist in a magical place in the universe because Carl shot up like a week very quickly.” He also went on to say, season 3 of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon will see a different kind of zombie as a threat to those who survived the apocalypse. “There is Walker stuff you haven’t seen before. Threats of them are unique. There’s more coming.”
Melissa McBride said: “It has been the thrill of a lifetime to shoot this part of Daryl and Carol’s adventure together in Europe and I keep coming back for more of these two characters. There is still so much story left to tell and so much for the fans to look forward to. I’m going to revel in the moments as they come and am excited for the fans to see what we have been working on in these incredible locations.”
Speaking in a statement, Norman said, “Daryl Dixon has been an incredible journey. I thank each and every fan who has joined us on this ride. It’s been a privilege to build this story for these characters, and we have so much gratitude for how it’s been embraced.
“Your love and support have made every moment worth it. This finale isn’t just an ending; it’s a celebration of what we’ve all shared together. Keep carrying that love forward – Daryl’s journey is far from over,” he added.
