Maggie had already proven that she wasn't just a girl who grew up on a farm. In fact, the group already trusted her more, as did Rick, and the audience was already starting to see her in a different way than she was initially in Season 2. She was appointed to negotiate with Gregory at Hilltop to get supplies and support in the fight against Negan.

AMC

The shocking thing about this scene is that Leah promises to eliminate all of Maggie's loved ones, due to the latter taking Leah's family. Many viewers couldn't help but feel a parallel to Maggie's revenge against Negan. She already knew that murdering her and her loved ones would not bring Leah's family back, just as revenge against Negan was not going to bring Glenn back.

Subsequently, Maggie breaks free, and they have a confrontation, which almost kills Maggie, but Daryl comes in and kills Leah just in time.

In the end, neither was willing to be disloyal to their teammates, but then Glenn was almost killed by Merle, and Maggie spoke up. This didn't hurt their companions' victory over the Governor, and both were able to make it through the torture in one piece.

Something that left all the viewers shocked was when she got into a bus full of walkers and finished them all off. She was checking to make sure Glenn hadn't been one of the victims on the transport. Although she doesn't manage to find Glenn or even his reanimated form, she shows us that she’s capable of taking down a bunch of undead on her own and without help.

This is saying quite a lot, since only the two of them managed to clear out two entire compounds, with no losses and no help whatsoever.

However, Sasha is attacked by walkers, and when she is thought to be lost, Maggie arrives and defends her. She manages to take out many of them, and the amazing thing is that she did it all with just a street sign. She is so fierce she doesn't need knives or firearms to defeat the undead.

AMC

Later, a horde of walkers was threatening the colony, but Maggie with loud music and a tractor managed to lure all the undead to save the colony. She punched Gregory in the face after he tried to hand her and Sasha over to Negan. But the most iconic thing that impressed the audience was that he reminded her of her name, Maggie Rhee.

7 Maggie Agrees to Marry Glenn

AMC

The relationship between Maggie and Glenn captivated us all from the beginning, and the fact that Glenn died is not something easy to overcome. Many believed that they were the best couple in the whole series. Glenn's marriage proposal to Maggie was something different and unique among all the chaos and survival surrounding them.

They were both guarding the prison fence when Glenn pulled out a ring he had found. There he proposes to Maggie to spend the rest of their days together, while she had given him a passionate kiss and a smile. It was something special, as they didn't need a wedding or festivities as is done in our world today to cement their bond. Simply put, when they returned with the rest of the group, they were already married.

AMC

Maggie for all her losses and misfortunes had become a hardened person, and she wasn’t the girl we met in the second season. This was seen when she was willing to make an unpopular and radical decision, which was to sentence Gregory to death.

He tries to kill Maggie, and she comes to the conclusion that she doesn't want any more betrayal or danger within her own colony. As a result, she puts him on the gallows and does what no one wants. Even though Rick disagreed, she took her own place of authority and made her own decision, which showed us that Maggie has her own point of view, and it's a solid one.

AMC

Negan had been someone who caused a lot of suffering to communities and individual stories.

However, when Rick orders them to save Negan's life, Maggie is held back as she screams for the death of her husband's killer. She’s ready to kill him but is restrained by her companions, and we end up seeing Maggie frustrated and broken by Rick's decision.

2 Maggie Trusts Negan with Her Son's Life

The Walking Dead Maggie Trusts Negan with Her Son's Life
AMC

The story between Negan and Maggie may be the most complex of all those in The Walking Dead. We see Maggie going from being the widow with a thirst for revenge to being the mother who entrusts her child to her husband's killer.

Rather than being uncomfortable for viewers, or something negative in Maggie's story, it's simply something you don't see in every story in the entertainment world. Plus, Negan points out to Maggie that Hershel (her son with Glenn) doesn't trust him. She confesses to him that she’s starting to trust Negan. This is something no one expected could ever come out of her mouth.

1 Maggie Lets Negan Live

The Walking Dead Maggie vs Negan
AMC

After a long time, Maggie manages to go to Negan's cell and have one of the most intense and expected conversations of the entire series. Despite the others' attempts to stop her, she manages to see him and end her personal vendetta.

Everything takes a rather unbelievable turn though, as Negan begs Maggie to murder him. He wanted to be with his wife, Lucille, in the afterlife. Maggie tells him that the Negan she wanted to kill is already dead, and decides not to end his life, condemning him to his personal misery in life.

This is the most critical moment Maggie has in the entire series. It marks the closing of a cycle through a correctly moral action and one that gives her peace in The Walking Dead.
