The Walking Dead’s Norman Reedus Pitches His Dream Location For Daryl Dixon Season 4

After spending most of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon's run in France, Norman Reedus knows where he wants to take the show next. As a spin-off of the original The Walking Dead, the show follows Daryl after he mysteriously wakes on the shores of France. He eventually meets with Carol Peletier (Melissa McBride), as they continue to explore the reality of post-apocalyptic Europe. Daryl and Carol will reportedly elect to leave France for Spain after season 2, but a reveal hints that Daryl Dixon season 3's Spanish trip will not be the end of Daryl's travels.

The Walking Dead's Norman Reedus Pitches His Dream Location For Daryl Dixon Season 4

In an exclusive interview with Screen Rant while at New York Comic Con, Reedus opened up about his hopes for its future. While he would love to see it continue to jump locations, there is one setting that he has always wanted to explore within the Walking Dead universe. Though he considered the idea of Costa Rica, he would love to see how the apocalypse influenced life in Japan. Check out his full explanation below:

Costa? Yeah, I don't know. I think part of the appeal is, and what we talked about way long ago was to see who's left out now. How an apocalyptic situation changes different groups depending on where they're on the planet. I mean, we kind of go off in a sunset. All three of us kind go off in a sunset at one point, but I don't know. It'd be interesting to be in Japan and see how it's handled there or anywhere else. Absolutely. Yeah, I would be down for that.

What Norman Reedus' Dream Means For Daryl Dixon

The Show May Eventually Take A Trip To Japan

The Daryl Dixon show has always been heavily tied to Norman Reedus, as his character has the titular name and is the biggest draw for audiences. With his gruff attitude, he has always been a stand-out in The Walking Dead's cast. If Reedus intends to see the show move to Japan someday, the executive producers would likely listen, especially since he has become an executive producer himself. He can advocate the show's move to Japan after season 4, especially since the show is setting a pattern of regularly changing settings.

There are currently just three publicly announced Walking Dead spin-offs that remain in development, including Daryl , More Tales from the Walking Dead Universe , and Dead City .

Setting shifts accomplishes more than just aesthetic changes. They provide a new cast of characters, conflicts, and ways of engaging with the apocalypse. The Walking Dead distinguished itself by showcasing different towns and their reaction to the outbreak, so it is only natural to expand that reach to new cultures. If his hope becomes a reality, Daryl Dixon could become a showcase show, expanding the franchise with every location revealed. After their introduction, More Tales could follow their future stories when Daryl and Carol move on to their next location.

Our Take On Daryl Dixon Moving To Japan

Japan Would Be Logistically Possible

Only visiting locations in Spain would be a massive disservice to the show, considering that the characters have already taken one major continental jump. Traveling from the United States to France was an enormous and unprecedented step, so taking a leap from Spain to Japan is relatively understandable. It would be difficult to reach Japan, but Daryl could stop at other fascinating locations along the way. He could also explore how Japan's culture contrasts with the need to survive against the Walkers. Visiting Japan could satisfy Reedus' dream, while also continuing to set The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon apart.
