Bachelor Nation fans saw Gerry Turner look for love on the very first season of “The Golden Bachelor.”
Gerry ended up getting engaged and then married to Theresa Nist, but sadly, the two ultimately decided to end their relationship.
And while he and Theresa went their separate ways, they are still supportive of each other and wish the best for one another.
Last week, Gerry hard-launched his new relationship on social media and spoke to Joe Amabile and Serena Pitt on “Bachelor Happy Hour” about how he told Theresa before sharing the news online.
Now, Theresa stopped by for a chat with Us Weekly where she opened up about that phone call with Gerry about his new romance.
During his chat on “Happy Hour,” Gerry revealed that both Joan Vassos and Leslie Fhima advised him to tell Theresa before he went public with his new romance.
Theresa shared, “He brought that up to both of them to say, ‘What should I do?’ And Leslie said, ‘Of course, tell Theresa, she’ll be happy for you.’ And so the next day, he texted me and I said, ‘Can you talk?’”
She went on, saying, “He said, ‘I just wanna let you know I met someone.’ I said, ‘That’s wonderful. I’m so happy for you.’ He goes, ‘I was afraid to tell you.’ ‘Why would you be afraid? I only want your happiness.’ Like, if this was the way it happened for him to find his person to go on the show, get married, and then find his person this way, then it was meant to be.”
Theresa played coy when the outlet asked if she had met anyone since her time with Gerry.
When asked about her current relationship status, Theresa said, “I think that’s one thing I learned — the public scrutiny and especially to rush into something so quickly and then all of a sudden, what if it doesn’t work out?”
So she remained tight-lipped for now, but we’re glad both she and Gerry are doing well and continuing to support one another.
We’ll keep you posted if Theresa shares any more about her love life in the future.
