The offseason is underway in Cincinnati.
The Bengals are coming off 9-8 regular season performance that left much to be desired, but still put Joe Burrow and company on the doorstep of the postseason.
To reach the AFC playoffs again in 2025, the team will need to make a few offseason adjustments in the coming months.
The Bengals start their preparation for the 2025-26 season with a handful of questions surrounding the roster.
As a result, Cincinnati may part ways with a few major contributors prematurely to help free up cap space to make other acquisitions over the offseason. A new "league-year" will start for NFL teams on March 12, meaning that the Bengals will need to make any pressing cap and personnel decisions before that date.
To help alleviate cap space, there are a handful of players the Bengals could move on from before the start of next season. According to a recent article from Bleacher Report; offensive lineman Alex Cappa, defensive back Geno Stone and edge rusher Sam Hubbard are the most likely candidates to be on different teams at the start of the 2025-26 campaign.
"The Bengals mostly need to re-shuffle the deck on defense, but the offense has a few players who should be on the chopping block," Bleacher Report wrote. "Alex Cappa probably tops that list."
Cappa's contract is set to be a $10.3 million cap hit to the Bengals next season, while Stone's contract will be an $8 million cap hit and Hubbard's will be a $11.5 million cap hit.
After disappointing seasons from Cappa and Stone, it appears that each player will likely be looking for a new home within the next few months.
