This week, the league fined him for it.

Hurts wore a different shade of green on each of his cleats for the Eagles’ 27-13 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers at Lincoln Financial Field on Sunday. Despite having a broken ring finger on his left hand, Hurts played well in the game, going 25-for-32 passing for 290 yards and two touchdowns. He added 45 yards and a touchdown on the ground.

The league initially promoted Hurts’ cleats in a post on X Sunday with the caption, “The Return of Jalen Two Shoes.” The league didn’t mind generating engagement on X with the Midnight Green and Kelly Green cleats.

However, the NFL has since deleted the post and fined Hurts for breaking the league’s policy on gameday wardrobe.

Per Tom Pelissero of the NFL Network, the league fined Hurts $5,628 for wearing the Kelly Green cleat.

“Two shoes, one fine: The NFL docked Eagles QB Jalen Hurts $5,628 for violating the league’s uniform and equipment rules in Sunday’s win over Pittsburgh, per source,” Pelissero posted on X. “Officially, Hurts’ fine was for wearing a shoe color that’s not one of the Eagles’ “Constitutional team colors”.

NFL fans reacted on social media to the league’s classless decision.

“They hating now,” wrote a fan.

“Huh? Nah they made that rule up!!! AJ wears Pink cleats, Smitty neon green, Jettas Gold… NFL reaching here,” posted a fan.

“Didn’t he specifically do this to honor some underprivileged kids he took shopping at Nike? Sheesh,” commented another.

“The NFL so worried about post game fines they can’t even get their in-game officiating working properly,” wrote a fan.

“It’s amazing how well the NFL has done despite Gooddell’s every attempt to ruin it,” suggested another.

“That is a garbage move by the NFL,” posted a fan.
