This Lions-Cowboys trade finally brings Micah Parsons to Detroit

The Detroit Lions are in the business of making their defense much better than it was in the early stages of the Dan Campbell era, and the best way they can reinforce a unit that is led by Aidan Hutchinson and not much else is to trade for the biggest fish out there in Dallas Cowboys All-Pro Micah Parsons.

Parsons, who is seeking a new contract, has reportedly hit a snag in negotiations so intense that he is considering requesting a trade. A trade may be unlikely, but that is not going to stop teams from asking about Parsons' availability.

The Lions should be at the front of the line in the Parsons sweepstakes, as they have enough financial freedom to bring in a player of his caliber and the need for a game-changing pass rusher that could make them the most feared team the NFC has to offer.

Dallas likely wouldn't give up Parsons without getting back a high-end starter in return. McNeill is one of the best players on this defense (when healthy), and Dallas might insist on a player of his caliber in order to find a replacement for Mazi Smith and get adequate value back in this deal.

The selection of Tyleik Williams in the 2025 NFL Draft gives the Lions a promising run defender who could fill his role if Parsons ends up coming to town. With DJ Reader still in town, the Detroit defensive line could be among the best in the league in 2025 with room to grow in the future.

The big appeal of this trade, however, is creating arguably the best edge rusher tandem in recent NFL history. If the Lions can find some way to both hand Parsons the contract he wants and get Hutchinson extended, it might be game over for the rest of the tackles in the NFC North.

A trade is still very much unlikely, as Dallas wants to keep Parsons for as long as possible and they have no incentive to make this deal. However, if Parsons forces his way out and Brad Holmes makes Jerry Jones an offer he can't refuse, this pairing may come to fruition.
