You may think the Tennessee Titans are a long ways away from competing for a playoff spot or an AFC South division title. And you’re probably right. It was more than one problem that saddled the Titans with a 3-14 record.
That could be discouraging. But looking ahead at the 2025 offseason and the first year under new GM Mike Borgonzi, Tennessee is a Top 5 NFL team in the one area that matters most: Assets. The offseason is all about getting better, and it looks like the Titans are poised to take a big step forward after a wildly disappointing year.
According to PFF's draft value chart, the Titans rank fourth among NFL teams when you combine their salary cap space, contract restructure potential, and draft capital in the 2025 NFL Draft. Tennessee is better positioned than most other teams to get better and boost the roster quality this offseason.
It's a good start to the Mike Borgonzi regime. It's likely a big reason why a GM candidate like Borgonzi was attracted to the job in the first place.
Tennessee's offseason will be highlighted by the number one overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, which of course gives them the ability to acquire an elite prospect or trade down for additional picks. The Titans also have roughly $35 million in effective cap space, per overthecap.com.
No need to look further if you're a Tennessee Titans fans searching for a reason to be optimistic about the future. With the left side of the offensive line stabilized and some veteran playmakers on defense, I'd describe the Titans as having the "framework" of a competitive roster. But there is a lot of opportunity for improvement in year two under head coach Brian Callahan.
Quarterback, right tackle, edge rusher, and inside linebacker will be the primary needs that need to be addressed.
