The Tennessee Titans lost an extremely familiar football game to the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday.
They were the less physical team. They made more mistakes. They were less disciplined. Their deficiencies at RT and QB and in the pass rush all reared their ugly heads at the wrong times. They continue to be incapable of buying a break with turnover luck. The three phases of the team didn't compliment each other well at all.
It was a comprehensive team loss. Another such loss in a brutal season. And yet, the future of the Tennessee Titans as a franchise picked up a couple of wins along the way. Let's begin to look to the future:
2025 NFL Draft Order
All fans currently aboard the Titans tank train had a lovely Week 10 Sunday afternoon. Not only did a Titans loss further their aim, but some key wins from other cellar dwellers bumped the Titans even further down (up?) the standings.
Here is the how the 2025 NFL Draft order stands through Week 10, pending the Dolphins on Monday Night Football. I've included every 2 or 3-win team:
- Jacksonville Jaguars (2-8)
- New York Giants (2-8)
- Tennessee Titans (2-7)
- Cleveland Browns (2-7)
- Las Vegas Raiders (2-7)
- Miami Dolphins (2-6)
- New England Patriots (3-7)
- New Orleans Saints (3-7)
- New York Jets (3-7)
- Carolina Panthers (3-7)
- Dallas Cowboys (3-6)
After landing a badly-needed (in the building) win over the lowly Patriots in Week 9, some fans were mad that the Titans "took themselves out of" the running for a top pick. Those who understood the landscape of the bottom of the league, however, understood that the win didn't prohibit them from climbing (sinking? I hate this.) the ranks very quickly if they failed to make serious strides as a team down the stretch.
The Titans came into Week 10 in the 9th draft spot and finish in 3rd. On top of the Titans loss, what helped propel them this high was a key win from the Patriots over the Bears, the Panthers in German overtime besting the Giants, and the Saints enjoying their fired-coach-bump in beating the division foe Falcons.
The Titans sit behind just the Jaguars and Giants, who only find themselves higher in the order by way of having played (and lost) one more game than Tennessee. Both ball clubs will have their bye soon and the Titans will, unfortunately, get their chance to match their loss totals.
Of course, the Titans still play the Jaguars twice in Week 14 and Week 17, so they're likely to have control over whether they draft before them in the spring.
Leapfrogging the Giants will take New York winning some games on their own. Left on their schedule are the Cowboys, Saints, and Colts as the most winnable remaining matchups.
The Titans coaches and players won't ever start trying to lose ball games. But after a demoralizing Week 10 loss, they sit one spot away from landing either Shadeur Sanders or Travis Hunter in April...
