Titans RB Honored in New Orleans Ahead of Super Bowl LIX

Tyjae Spears was raised in the heart of Louisiana. After being born in the city of Hammond, Spears attended high school in Ponchatoula and then moved to New Orleans to play college football for the Green Wave of Tulane University.

While Spears may be a bit more than a day's drive away from home now in Nashville, the kid from Louisiana has found his place in Tennessee with the Titans organization. In his two seasons with the Titans, Spears has contributed 1,374 all-purpose yards and eight touchdowns alongside star running backs Derrick Henry and Tony Pollard.

Tennessee drafted Spears in the third round of the 2023 NFL Draft just 10 picks after his hometown team, the New Orleans Saints, passed on him in favor of another running back. But that did not stop the city of New Orleans from celebrating Spears ahead of Super Bowl LIX and honoring him with his own mural.

A community event was held this week at City Gear in Gentilly, Louisiana, and Jay McKay, a local artist, wanted to do something special for the running back as a thank-you for all that he still does in the New Orleans community. The Titans' social media pages posted a picture of Spears standing next to the mural.

Spears was then asked if he had any advice for the kids at the event. "You have to make good decisions and have a mindset that you want to do something big," Spears told the kids. "And, if I can do it, you can do it."
