TJ Watt’s Steelers Brace for Commanders Head-Turning Rookie Jayden Daniels

Following respective victories over the New York Giants, the Pittsburgh Steelers and Washington Commanders prepare to face off in a high-stakes matchup.

The Pittsburgh Steelers enjoyed a Week 9 bye following their Week 8 Monday Night Football victory over the New York Giants, where they secured a solid 26-18 win. In that game, quarterback Russell Wilson delivered an efficient performance, going 20-for-28 with 278 passing yards and a touchdown, while the Steelers’ defense, led by T.J. Watt, forced two critical turnovers.

Watt’s game-changing strip-sack fumble, which he recovered himself, and a late interception by defensive back Beanie Bishop on Giants quarterback Daniel Jones solidified the Steelers' win.

Meanwhile, the Washington Commanders handed the Giants their second straight loss, claiming a 27-22 victory at MetLife Stadium in Week 9. Commanders rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels connected with receiver Terry McLaurin twice for touchdowns in the first half, helping Washington build a 21-7 lead by halftime. Despite Daniels finishing with 15 completions for 209 yards—his lowest output since Week 1—the Commanders’ balanced attack and solid defense kept them ahead.

The Steelers now prepare for the Commanders after they both hand Giants a loss and now stand at 6-2, while the Commanders lead the NFC East at 7-2, marking their best start since 1996. The matchup will be a test of strengths, with the Commanders' offensive prowess against the Steelers' defensive might. Pittsburgh’s defense, anchored by Watt’s relentless pass rush, will aim to disrupt Daniels and the Commanders’ rhythm, while Washington looks to counter with a controlled offensive game plan that has brought consistent results.

For the Steelers, a win would bolster their divisional lead in the AFC North, while head coach Mike Tomlin chases his 18th consecutive winning season. For the Commanders, a victory would fortify their hold on the NFC East and solidify their surprising postseason potential.

As two successful teams vying for playoff positioning, this Week 10 showdown promises to be pivotal for both Washington and Pittsburgh, each striving to build on the momentum from victories over a shared divisional foe in the Giants.
