Trade Pitch Lands Patriots 975 Yard Wide Receiver

San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Jauan Jennings would like to receive a new contract from the team and continue his career in the Bay Area.

49ers Could Move on From Jauan Jennings with 'Powerful' WR

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, if Jennings doesn’t receive a contract extension by the start of training camp, the wide receiver would request a trade.

Bleacher Report’s Alex Kay proposed a trade package that would have the 49ers receiver end up in New England if a contract extension isn’t agreed to.

“While the Pats did expend a third-round pick on wideout Kyle Williams and signed both Stefon Diggs and Mack Hollins, they could still use some help at the receiver position. This will be especially true if Ja’Lynn Polk and Javon Baker—wideouts the previous regime tapped in the second and fourth rounds, respectively, last year—don’t show vast improvement during camp,” Kay wrote for B/R.

“Trading for Jennings would immediately bolster [Drake] Maye’s weapons and give the young signal-caller one of the league’s deepest receiving corps. The Pats could facilitate this deal by giving Polk a chance for a fresh start in San Francisco’s offense and adding an early Day 3 pick into the mix.”

Kay’s official trade proposal would see the Patriots land Jennings in exchange for Polk and a 2026 fourth-round pick.

What Jauan Jennings Adds to the Patriots’ Receiver Room

If Jauan Jennings were to be sent to the New England Patriots, the wide receiver room would have more depth.

Jennings recorded 975 receiving yards and six receiving touchdowns last season with the 49ers.

The Patriots did not have a single receiver who had more than 650+ receiving yards or more than three touchdowns last season.

With the possibility of Diggs not being ready for week one of the new NFL season, adding Jennings would give the Patriots the pass-catching threat they need until Diggs returns.

Head coach Mike Vrabel said he would monitor situations around the league to help the team get better.

Possible Contract Extension with Patriots

Jauan Jennings

While the 49ers may be hesitant to agree to a new contract with Jauan Jennings, the Patriots have the cap space to extend Jennings if they were to trade for him.

According to Over the Cap, Jennings is set to have a cap hit of $4.258 million this season with the 49ers. San Francisco is set to have around $8 million in cap space for the 2026 season and $14 million in 2027.

The Patriots were one of the biggest spenders in the 2025 NFL Free Agency, spending over $250 million.

The team currently has $60 million in cap space and could offer Jennings a high-number contract.

It is currently unknown how much money the wide receiver is expecting.
