Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce has officially launched his hosting career on the game show “Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity?”
The first three episodes premiered on Prime Video on October 16, featuring Kelce in his new role as host. He welcomed contestants who tried their best to answer 11 questions ranging from first to sixth-grade levels on various subjects.
During the show, comedian Nikki Glaser took the opportunity to roast Kelce, adding a comedic twist to his hosting debut.
Glaser playfully asked a contestant, “Do you have any motivational speech for Travis? Because his life is, like, not going great,” referencing Kelce’s high-profile relationship with popstar Taylor Swift, according to PEOPLE.
In another segment, Kelce humorously supported a contestant named Aarti Garg jokingly saying, “You’ve been killing it. This is your Super Bowl,” to which he added “And I’ve never played this well in a Super Bowl.”
MLFootball X account shared a clip of the show with a caption: "TRENDING: #Chiefs TE Travis Kelce is hosting a new show, ‘Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity’"
The video featured a teaser of Kelce's debut where he jokingly remarked, “I majored in criminal justice. If I’m gonna go to school, I might as well learn how to not go to jail.”
Despite feeling nervous about the premiere, Kelce expressed his excitement about the opportunity. He shared on his podcast with brother Jason Kelce that he was “terrified what people are gonna say.”
However, he quickly found joy in the experience. “I had so much fun making the show,” he said.
“Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity?” is a fresh twist on the original format of “Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader?”
Each contestant has the chance to win a $100,000 prize if they can answer all 11 questions correctly, followed by a final sixth-grade level question.
Kelce's role as a host is not his only recent foray into television. He has also made his acting debut in Ryan Murphy's new horror series “Grotesquerie,” which premiered on FX earlier this month.
