FRISCO - The TV host who was on attack, is suddenly issuing an apology.
Former NFL receiver James Jones, part of some show apparently called The Facility on FS1, raised eyebrows and made headlines this week when accused Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott of quitting on his team. Prescott left last Sunday's loss to the Atlanta Falcons with a hamstring injury that Jones somehow thought wasn't as serious as the quarterback claimed.
When Jones learned that Prescott would likely be placed on injured reserve and be out until at least Dec. 9, he snapped.
"Dak quit," Jones said outrageously. "It's crazy because it ain't even like funny though. My man quitting on these dudes. I've had a hamstring plenty of times and I'm back the next week ... It don't take no four weeks to heal from a hamstring.''
While there has been backlash from Cowboys and NFL fans at Jones' irrational opinion, it took some breaking news about Prescott's injury on Wednesday for him to realize the quarterback is indeed dealing with a serious injury.
NFL Network broke the story that Prescott's injury is so severe that the initial diagnosis is a "partial avulsion," meaning the tendon is almost torn off the bone. The normal healing time for such an injury is typically four weeks.
"In some cases, they let it scar over, repair and then strengthen," reported Jane Slater. "With that being said, Prescott is seeking other opinions which is why there is currently a reluctance to place him on IR or make any determinations about a timeline for return.''
Reacting to the news, Jones' TV sidekick Emmanuel Acho alerted Jones that he had some backpedaling in order.
"Ummm, James Jones," Acho said on social media, "I believe you owe Dak Prescott a massive apology."
To his credit (?), Jones didn't wait for Thursday's show to admit he was wrong about Prescott.
"Nawww….this can’t wait until tomorrow!" Jones said on Twitter. "That’s my fault…seeing the reports of how bad it might be…that’s tough! God Speed Dak."
At 3-5 and facing the Philadelphia Eagles Sunday in Arlington with a three-game losing streak and without their star quarterback, the Cowboys have enough problems. After Jones sorta soothed his attack with an apology Dak, maybe they have one less now.
