New Orleans Saints safety Tyrann Mathieu just saved New York Giants fans from more drama. And this day has been nothing but drama for the Big Apple.
During today's game, a plane flew over MetLife Stadium with a banner that said "Mr. Mara, enough – [please] fix this dumpster fire," the Giants defense finally got their second interception of the season, a punt return-touchdown was called back due to a penalty, and the Giants game-tying field goal attempt was blocked.
The cherry on top of the madness was a hot mic capturing a player yelling "Y'all f****** calling plays like I ain't out there!"
Fans speculated that it was Giants rookie wideout Malik Nabers. Nabers, who has now played with three different quarterbacks this season, recorded five receptions on 10 targets for 79 yards. The rookie WR also made a circus catch to convert on the two-point attempt, which cut down the Saints' lead to three points.
While Nabers did not comment on the hot-mic moment, Mathieu took to X, the app formerly known as Twitter, to set the record straight.
When the Honey Badger cleared the air, it started to make sense to fans. The safety is known for giving his opponent hell, both verbally and through his play.
Now that Nabers isn't under fire, a quick shoutout to the rookie. Despite missing two games and dealing with a QB-carousel, Nabers is on pace to having a 1,000 yard season, potentially 1,116 yards. Heading into Week 15, Nabers has 80 receptions (tied for fifth), 819 yards (20th) and three touchdowns.
