VIDEO: New York Jets & Carolina Panthers Players Threw Fists During Heated Brawl In Joint Practice

Tempers flared between the New York Jets and Carolina Panthers during their joint practice on Thursday afternoon.

New York Jets and Carolina Panthers involving in a brawl.

The New York Jets and Carolina Panthers are holding joint practice sessions ahead of their preseason Week 2 contest at Bank of America Stadium on Saturday (7:00 p.m. EST). And let’s just say that both teams look ready for game action.

The “For Panthers Fans Only Podcast” X/Twitter account shared a video of a heated brawl breaking out between the two teams during their practice.

The brawl started after Carolina wide receiver Terrace Marshall Jr. caught a touchdown and flipped the ball at Jets cornerback DJ Reed. The 27-year-old Reed (No. 4 in the green jersey) then jogged in to join the altercation before throwing a punch, further escalating the brouhaha:

The New York Jets and Carolina Panthers don’t face each other during the 2024 regular season, so any differences and bitter emotions must be resolved during Saturday’s preseason contest.

The Jets and Panthers are both looking to bounce back from awfully disappointing 2023 seasons. New York entered last year with Super Bowl aspirations, but those dreams were dashed after Aaron Rodgers suffered a torn Achilles minutes into his Jets debut.

Carolina hoped to compete for the NFC South after trading up to select Alabama quarterback Bryce Young with the first overall pick. But the Panthers finished as football’s worst team (2-15) and gave up the No. 1 pick to the Chicago Bears as a result. With that pick, the Bears drafted can’t-miss QB prospect Caleb Williams.

New York Jets Aim To End Longest NFL Playoff Drought

The Jets are the unfortunate owners of the longest active NFL playoff drought, having last qualified in the 2010 season. That team reached the AFC title game, narrowly losing to the Pittsburgh Steelers.

With Aaron Rodgers back to full health, the Jets hope to snap the drought and re-emerge as a Super Bowl contender. Their season kicks off on Sept. 9 with a road tilt against the San Francisco 49ers.
