Vikings could have a huge problem before their next game in Week 10

Everyone knew something was off when Minnesota Vikings rookie kicker Will Reichard missed his first field-goal attempt of the 2024 season in the second quarter of the team's win over the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday.

Well, apparently, Reichard was dealing with an injured quad during the contest, and after the game, he revealed to the Minnesota Star Tribune's Andrew Krammer that he will undergo an MRI on Monday to see how significant the injury is.

Minnesota's rookie kicker also missed a 31-yard field-goal try in the second quarter of Sunday's game, however, he did make all three of his extra-point attempts in the matchup. The results of his MRI will certainly be something to pay attention to, as his reliability has played a big part in the Vikings' success this season.

If Reichard has to miss any time in the future due to his injury, it would be pretty significant for Minnesota since they currently don't even have another kicker on their practice squad.

That will probably change at some point in the next few days, regardless of whether Reichard's injury turns out to be concerning or not after his upcoming MRI. The Vikings have to make sure they're prepared for their top kicker to miss time, even if he ends up being okay to play next Sunday when the team takes on the Jacksonville Jaguars.

At this point in the season, there aren't really any decent kickers available in free agency. But Minnesota will likely still sign one and just hope that Reichard doesn't have to miss next weekend's game.

Just when the Vikings thought they were finally going to have a season without having a concern about their kicker, the football gods reminded them why they're arguably the most snake-bitten franchise in NFL history.
