Vikings legend Adrian Peterson gets into fistfight over poker room dispute

Former NFL running back Adrian Peterson got into a fistfight with a poker player at a social club in Houston, Texas, according to TMZ Sports. The incident happened on May 27 at JokerStars, and Peterson said he and one of his friends were involved in a disagreement while at the table. He then said, “One thing led to another,” and began to fight.

TMZ Sports obtained the video that showed Peterson taking a series of punches. But as the fight continued, the former Minnesota Vikings running back appeared to land several big punches on his friend.

Peterson and the poker player had bloody wounds on their faces, according to TMZ Sports. But the former NFL MVP told the outlet he suffered his injury after he fell into a chair – not from a punch.

“Me and the guy, we’re cool,” Peterson said. “We’ve known each other. It was literally like a brother situation. We agreed to disagree, we had our words, and we threw blows – and that was it.”

Peterson also said that he and the poker player made up after the fight. “I felt really bad,” Peterson said. “It’s a situation where I kind of regret it.” TMZ Sports said that police were not called and JokerStars did not punish the two men.

Looking at Adrian Peterson’s NFL career

Adrian Peterson played in the NFL from 2007 to 2021 and spent time with multiple teams. The 40-year-old was with the Minnesota Vikings for the majority of his career (2007 to 2016) and became one of the best running backs in NFL history.

During his time in Minnesota, Peterson was selected to the Pro Bowl and the All-Pro Team seven times, led the NFL in rushing yards three times (2008, 2012, 2015), was named Offensive Rookie of the Year (2007), named Offensive Player of the Year (2012) and won the NFL MVP award (2012). During his time with the Vikings, Adrian Peterson rushed for 11,747 yards and 97 touchdowns.

After Peterson left the Vikings, he spent time with the New Orleans Saints, Arizona Cardinals, Washington, Detroit Lions, Tennesee Titans and Seattle Seahawks. His best season during that time was in 2018 when he played for Washington and rushed for 1,042 yards and seven touchdowns. Peterson ended his NFL career with 14,918 rushing yards, the fifth-most in league history.
