Vikings Part Ways With 1,350-Yard Running Back as 2-Time All-Pro Returns

The Minnesota Vikings made a couple of significant roster moves on Tuesday, Dec. 3, which should drastically impact one of the team's three main phases of the game.

Minnesota designated kicker Will Reichard and two-time All-Pro long snapper Andrew DePaola for return from injured reserve (IR), which meant some roster maintenance that included the decision to cut running back Myles Gaskin.

Reichard played in eight games for the Vikings during his rookie campaign in 2024 before going down with a quad injury that has cost him the last four contests. He connected on 14-of-16 field goal tries over the first half of the season as well as 23-of-23 extra point attempts.

Meanwhile, DePaola has been the team's long snapper since 2020 and has earned Pro-Bowl and All-Pro honors in each of the past two campaigns.

Gaskin, 27 years old, has appeared in five games for the Vikings this season, playing the majority of his snaps on special teams. However, Gaskin does have a six-year NFL career under has belt and has gained 1,354 rushing yards and scored 7 rushing touchdowns over that span, per Pro Football Reference.

He's also caught 102 passes for 712 receiving yards and 6 scores across stints with the Vikings, Miami Dolphins and Los Angeles Rams.

The team's choice to designate Reichard and DePaola for return doesn't necessarily mean that either man will be ready to go against the Atlanta Falcons this Sunday, as doing so simply opens each player's 21-day practice window.

However, Minnesota released long snapper Jake McQuaide alongside Gaskin on Tuesday, an indicator that DePaola will be ready to go come the weekend.
