Vikings Suggested to Take Two Ideal Prospects in NFL Draft

With limited options in the NFL Draft, the Minnesota Vikings have some big decisions to make on who their top two picks are.

Vikings Suggested to Take Two Ideal Prospects in NFL Draft

Minnesota has four picks in this year’s draft, with the top two picks in the first and third rounds. The Vikings have been projected to take a cornerback, a defensive lineman, and an offensive lineman in the early rounds of the draft.

After an offseason filled with dropping nearly $300 million on free agents, Minnesota now must pick the future of the franchise with its top picks. They may be able to resolve their depth issues immediately in the draft.

NFL.com draft analyst Chad Reuter shared his list of two ideal prospects for each team with their top two picks. Reuter had the Vikings taking Florida State cornerback Azareye'h Thomas in the first round and West Virginia guard Wyatt Milum with their third-round pick.

“Minnesota brought back Byron Murphy and signed ex-Eagle Isaiah Rodgers but could still use a corner with size on the outside. The 6-1 1/2, 197-pound Thomas has size to spare and will lock up larger targets when allowed to use his physicality downfield. The Vikings traded their 2025 second- and third-round selections in separate deals last spring, then were awarded a third-round compensatory selection -- which they use here to fill a hole at left guard by selecting Milum, who could successfully shift inside from left tackle thanks to his active feet and willingness to finish.”

Thomas assembled the best season of his college career last season with the Seminoles as he racked up 52 tackles, four pass deflections, two tackles for loss, and one interception in 12 games. Milum was named as a consensus All-American with the Mountaineers last year.

Both are ideal fits to add depth to each position. Thomas can learn from Murphy and Rodgers before taking on a more significant role in the next year or two. Milum has a chance to earn a starting job at one of the guard positions with Will Fries holding down the other guard position.

The Vikings could potentially secure two starters for their roster with their first two picks, which would be a significant win for the future.
