Vikings Urged to Draft Disruptive Pass Rusher

The Vikings might be taking the NFL Draft route to find some size in the middle of the defensive line.

Vikings Urged to Draft Disruptive Pass Rusher

This offseason, the Vikings have spent money on the defensive line in the way of Jonathan Allen and Javon Hargrave to two-year deals.

However, there is still a need for more depth.

Many mock drafts have the Vikings selecting a defensive lineman in the early rounds of the NFL Draft. Pro Football Focus (PFF) provided Minnesota with some solutions to address those concerns.

Jordan Plocher wrote an article on PFF on Thursday, making suggestions on who each NFL team should pick on day one and day three of their most significant needs. With the Vikings needing help on the interior defensive line, Plocher suggested Oregon defensive lineman Derrick Harmon to be taken on day one.

"Harmon is a well-rounded defensive tackle prospect who earned an 80.5 run-defense grade and an 86.3 pass-rush grade in 2024."

Harmon gives the Vikings a solid run-stopper while also serving as an elite pass rusher at the tackle position, having recorded five sacks and led the FBS in quarterback pressures with 55 in 2024 for the Ducks. His impressive 4.95 40-yard dash time at 313 pounds made waves at the NFL Combine last month.

Minnesota was in the top five in the NFL in sacks with 49, but only got three from the defensive tackle position.

If there is a draft where the Vikings can go all in on getting defensive line help, the 2025 NFL Draft provides one of the deepest in years.
