Actor Jeffrey Dean Morgan is known for his roles in The Walking Dead, Supernatural, Grey's Anatomy, and more. He is a diverse actor who easily portrays a romantic love interest or a vicious villain. In May 2025, fans will see him as Negan in the second season of The Walking Dead: Dead City, but recently, it was revealed that Morgan portrays another villain in Prime Video's Invincible.
WARNING: Spoilers for Invincible season 3 ahead.
Walking Dead alum Steven Yeun portrays the titular character Invincible/Mark Greyson in Prime Video's adult animated series. Invincible is based on Robert Kirkman, Cory Walker, and Ryan Ottley's comic of the same name and has featured a long list of TWD alums throughout its three seasons. So, it only makes sense that Morgan should join the cast, once again portraying one of Kirkman's iconic villains.
In season 3, episode 7, "What Have I Done?" Morgan joins the storyline as Conquest, a high-ranking Viltrumite veteran warrior. At the end of the episode, Conquest tells Invincible, "Stand ready for my arrival, worm," a line straight from the comics. This means trouble for Invincible and everyone under his protection. The episode concludes with Conquest and Invincible charging towards one another, setting up a monumental season finale.
Jeffrey Dean Morgan as the villain
Morgan does a fantastic job portraying villains. In addition to Negan from The Walking Dead comics and Conquest from Invincible, he also played The Comedian in Watchmen. He has played Negan the longest in five seasons of the main series and at least two of the spinoff Dead City.
The upcoming Dead City season will see the former leader of the Saviors revert to his old ways, complete with a new leather jacket and a new Lucille, his favorite weapon, a barbed wire-wrapped bat named after his deceased wife.
In the first season of Dead City, Negan teamed up with his long-time enemy Maggie Rhee (Lauren Cohan) in rescuing her son Hershel (Logan Kim). In TWD, Negan killed Maggie's husband Glenn, portrayed by Invincible actor Steven Yeun in TWD, which began Maggie's plan of exacting revenge. The duo was successful in the rescue but it would be discovered that Maggie betrayed Negan.
Season 2 will see Maggie and Negan on opposite sides in the battle for Manhattan. The official synopsis reads: In the growing war for control of Manhattan, Maggie and Negan find themselves trapped on opposite sides. As their paths intertwine, they come to see that the way out for both is more complicated and harrowing than they ever imagined.
