Washington Commanders Cut Three Players Following The NFL Draft

The Washington Commanders trimmed down their roster during a busy offseason.

On Tuesday morning, Washington officially released linebacker Brandon Bouyer-Randle, cornerback D'Angelo Mandell, and defensive end Joshua Pryor.

Neither Bouyer-Randle nor Mandell has ever appeared in an NFL game. They each signed a reserve/future contract with Washington in January.

Mandell tallied 90 tackles and six pass breakups in 56 games at BYU from 2018 to 2022 before going undrafted. Bouyer-Randle registered 98 tackles, two interceptions, and a forced fumble during his 2022 senior year at UConn.

Pryor played seven games for Washington last season, almost exclusively on special teams besides one defensive snap. The 6-foot-4, 280-pounder notched one tackle in a Week 13 loss to the Miami Dolphins.

No team is returning a lower percentage of last year's players than the Commanders. However, a new regime has quickly restocked their roster with several free-agent acquisitions.

After finishing last in points and yards allowed last season, the Commanders signed linebackers Bobby Wagner and Frankie Luvu, defensive ends Dorance Armstrong and Dante Fowler Jr., and defensive backs Jeremy Chinn, Jeremy Reaves, and Michael Davis. Meanwhile, the offense welcomed running back Austin Ekeler, tight end Zach Ertz, and center Tyler Biadasz.

Washington also used five of its nine 2024 draft picks on defenders before signing 11 undrafted free agents, including cornerback cornerback Chigozie Anusiem and quarterback Sam Hartman.

The Commanders will begin their rookie minicamp this Friday. The three-day showcase gives them more opportunities to scout hidden gems to compete for roster spots this summer.
