Running back Saquon Barkley moved on from the Giants this offseason following six years full of ups and downs.
The No. 2 overall pick in 2018 made it seem like New York never offered him a new deal before signing his three-year, $37.75 million contract with the Eagles.
"Let me educate some of you fans here ... I can't bail or become a traitor if I never got an offer to come back," Barkley posted last month on platform X. "So I went to the organization I felt that was the best and after already being here for a month man I'm excited to be a eagle! Go birds."
However, the latest "Hard Knocks" trailer might argue otherwise.
During the trailer, general manager Joe Schoen is seen talking on the phone with who is most likely to be Barkley and seems to be inferring that the Giants want to work out a deal and keep him with the team.
"Saquon, can you give me your word on that, or are you not going to give us a chance?" Schoen asks.
That isn't how things worked out. Barkley not only left New York but joined its NFC East rival.
Fans will have to watch "Hard Knocks" to see what else was potentially said during the conversation, but clearly, there was some miscommunication.
Shortly after Barkley joined Philadelphia, the NFL investigated whether the team tampered by talking to Barkley before it was legal for teams to talk to free agents.
The league has since revealed that it did not find sufficient evidence, so maybe the full show will shed some more light on the situation.
This season of "Hard Knocks" will be the first of its kind as it will follow a team through free agency, the draft and other offseason events.
