Over Thanksgiving, Chock went to Joan's house in Maryland to spend the holiday with her family, but Joan was absent during his get together in Kansas over Christmas. Joan spoke about the two families coming together for the holidays and said it was "a little hard right now." While she didn't elaborate on the underlying issues, Joan's kids were concerned by Chock's intentions when they met him for the first time in Tahiti.
Joan's children could have some resentment over their mother and matriarch spending more time with her new fiancé over them. Joan originally said that her family would come first over her partner during The Golden Bachelorette, and that's not what's happening. However, Joan spent her son's girlfriend's birthday with her family, without Chock, which could mean that there is more separation growing.
