The Cleveland Browns will head to the Greenbrier in West Virginia for the start of training camp in a few short weeks. Every year there seems to be a player who quickly becomes a favorite of the beat reporters covering the team.
We are getting ever so close to our timelines being filled with clips of players making impressive plays. As fans, we will get glimpses of players for the first time, whether it’s free-agent additions, draft picks, or undrafted free agents.
Last year it was wide receiver Austin Watkins Jr., who flashed during practices and went on to lead the team in catches during the preseason. Due to the nature of camp practices and the lack of contact, it tends to be receivers and defensive backs who stand out.
On offense for the Browns, could it be a smaller, shifty, receiver like Ahmarean Brown, or perhaps a bigger-bodied receiver like Matthew Landers or Jalen Camp? On defense, watch out for cornerbacks Vincent Gray and rookie Myles Harden to break up a lot of passes. Both should prove pesky in coverage, with Gray playing both corner and safety, while Harden should primarily play from inside in the slot.
