Which New York Jets players were graded highest by PFF in preseason week 2?

As is the case for every other week of games, PFF released its grades for the New York Jets week 2 preseason game against the Carolina Panthers. While the final roster decisions will factor in many other components beyond performance in preseason games, the performance in these games can often impact decisions. With that in mind, it’s likely worth seeing which players PFF performed in the most recent game.

Jets OL Carter Warren and DB Jarrick Bernard-Converse Return to Practice

On offense, the 5 highest graded players were as follows:

  • Tight end Anthony Firkser (80.6)
  • Right tackle Max Mitchell (79.0)
  • Left guard Kohl Levao (76.8)
  • Right tackle Obinna Eze (70.9)
  • Wide receiver Brandon Smith (68.0)

On defense, the 5 highest graded players were as follows:

  • Free safety Jarrick Bernard-Converse (86.8)
  • Middle linebacker Chazz Surratt (86.0)
  • Cornerback Shemar Bartholomew (82.8)
  • Edge rusher Will McDonald IV (80.5)
  • Cornerback Qan’tez Stiggers (78.4)
  • Honorable mention to edge rusher Takk McKinley who ranked 6th with a grade of 78.3

Overall, I think several of these players have a chance to impact the roster choices if they continue this kind of performance in practice and in the final preseason game.

Most notably, Bernard-Converse built on his stellar week 1 and seems well on his way to making the roster. Additionally, Surratt, McKinley, and Stiggers are potentially playing their way into depth roles, which would be major wins for all three players.

On offense, the play of Firkser, Mitchell, and Levao could also earn them consideration for backup roles with the New York Jets. This would be especially notable for Mitchell and Levao, given the regularity with which injuries occur along the offensive line in season.
