Academy Award-nominated actress Alfre Woodard portrayed Lily Sloane in Star Trek: First Contact. Following Star Trek Generations, First Contact was the first big screen adventure devoted completely to the cast of Star Trek: The Next Generation. Director Jonathan Frakes' hit film follows Captain Jean-Luc Picard (Patrick Stewart) and the USS Enterprise-E as they travel back in time to prevent the Borg from rewriting history. Upon arriving in 2063, the Enterprise crew encounters Zefram Cochrane (James Cromwell), the creator of warp drive, on the eve of his historic flight that led to humanity's First Contact with the Vulcans.
While Commander William Riker (Jonathan Frakes), Lt. Commander Geordi La Forge (LeVar Burton), and Counselor Deanna Troi (Marina Sirtis) work with Zefram Cochrane on Earth, Captain Picard and the rest of the crew fight off Borg drones aboard the Enterprise. The Borg manage to capture Lt. Commander Data (Brent Spiner), and the Borg Queen (Alice Krige) attempts to seduce him to gain information about the Enterprise. In the end, Picard and Data thwart the Borg Queen, the Phoenix launches as scheduled, and the Vulcans make First Contact with humanity. But Picard had a lot of help from Lily Sloane.
Lily Sloane Helped Zefram Cochrane Build The First Warp Drive
As Captain Picard and Data are initially investigating the missile silo housing Zephram Cochrane's warp ship, the Phoenix, they encounter Lily Sloane. Picard has Sloane transported to the Enterprise after she becomes affected by radiation poisoning. Once her condition is treated, however, Sloane escapes into the bowels of the Enterprise, which is currently overrun by Borg drones. The frightened Sloane eventually runs into Picard, who convinces her that he can be trusted. Picard and Sloane then work together to take back the Enterprise from the Borg, and Sloane later calls out Picard for his reluctance to sacrifice the Enterprise.

Star Trek: Lower Decks’ Alternate Universe Lily Sloane Explained
In A Different Reality, Sloane Commands A New Kind Of Starfleet Crew
Alfre Woodard returned to voice Lily Sloane in Star Trek: Lower Decks season 5, episode 9, "Fissure Quest." Throughout Star Trek: Lower Decks season 5, the USS Cerritos has been investigating a series of mysterious quantum fissures that have appeared across the galaxy. In "Fissure Quest," a Section 31 Defiant Class starship led by Captain William Boimler (Jack Quaid) discovers the cause of these dangerous rifts in spacetime. Boimler and his crew encounter an alternate universe version of Lily Sloane in command of a ship called the Beagle that can travel the multiverse using a Quantum Reality Drive.
No matter the universe, Lily Sloane has a strong moral compass, a desire to learn, and a passion for exploration.
Rather than exploring the galaxy of one universe, Captain Lily Sloane and her crew travel to various realities seeking to learn more about themselves in the process. Like her Star Trek: First Contact counterpart, this Lily Sloane worked with Zefram Cochrane, but in her universe they developed a Quantum Reality Drive rather than a Warp Drive. Captain Sloane was unaware that her ship was creating additional rifts and she immediately apologizes and offers to help Boimler and his crew. No matter the universe, Lily Sloane has a strong moral compass, a desire to learn, and a passion for exploration.
