Who was Mike Tyson’s Dream Opponent?

‘The Baddest Man on The Planet’ Mike Tyson (50-6-2, 44 KOs) was once the most coveted name in the world of boxing, with many notable names trying to get a piece of the ‘Iron’ Mike payday. As he prepares himself to possibly teach Jake Paul (9-1, 6 KOs) a lesson on November 15, there is one question that boxing aficionados often ponder about. Did he ever have a dream opponent with whom he wished to share the ring? In a recently resurfaced interview, Tyson was seen naming his dream opponent, and let’s just say there were no surprises.

Tyson was talking to Steve Farhood during his fight on ShoBox. In conversation, he named the undefeated crown prince of boxing, Floyd Mayweather Jr. (50-0, 27 KOs), as the fighter that he wished to face inside the ring. “Well, I would love to have fought him. I wish he was my weight. We can never fight, of course, because of the weight difference, but I wouldn’t fight him the way they fought him,” he said.

Mayweather’s immaculate fight record certainly seems to have caught Tyson’s eye. However, Tyson admitted that he would have to fight dirty to beat Mayweather, as his skillset might prove too challenging for him.“You can’t, it’s almost impossible to fight him clean. It’s just so hard to beat him,” he said.

“Jake Is Pissed”

On the other hand, it looks like Tyson’s current opponent, Paul, is not very happy about their fight date being postponed. Notably, the duo was set to face each other on July 20, but the fight date had to be pushed after Tyson had an ulcer flare-up. Talking to Ariel Helwani of the MMA Hour, the co-founder of Most Valuable Promotions, Nakisa Bidarian, shed light on Paul’s disappointment with the postponement.

“Jake is pissed cuz he sees Mike in Europe living life doing appearances celebrating his birthday,” he said.

Bidarian revealed that Paul was unhappy that Tyson hasn’t gotten back to training seriously after his recent health scare. Moreover, he added that they’re looking forward to the fight regardless. “I think as long as he has a clean bill of health, which he did, and he will 100% will if we move forward with November 15th, which we plan to, then of course that fight should happen,” he added.
