The Philadelphia Eagles (8-2) and Los Angeles Rams (5-5) will be missing key starters in their Sunday Night Football showdown, with Eagles wide receiver DeVonta Smith and Rams right tackle Rob Havenstein officially listed as inactive.
Havenstein, who entered the game doubtful due to a knee injury, leaves a significant gap on the Rams’ offensive line. His absence could complicate the team’s efforts to protect quarterback Matthew Stafford against Philadelphia’s dominant pass rush, which ranks among the NFL’s best.
For the Eagles, Smith will sit out for the second time this season after aggravating a hamstring injury during last Thursday’s game against Washington. The standout receiver had been managing hamstring issues in recent weeks but was ruled out on Friday after missing practice all week.
Philadelphia’s receiving corps gets a lift with the return of Britain Covey from Injured Reserve. Covey, sidelined since Week 3 with a shoulder injury sustained against the Saints, will resume punt return duties. In his absence, rookie defensive back Cooper DeJean excelled as a returner, averaging 11.8 yards per return, the second-best mark in the NFC.
The Eagles’ active wide receivers for tonight’s game include A.J. Brown, Jahan Dotson, Johnny Wilson, Ainias Smith, and the returning Covey. Meanwhile, tight end C.J. Uzomah has been elevated from the practice squad for the second consecutive week. Uzomah played three snaps in his Eagles debut last week against Washington.
Despite Smith’s absence, the Eagles report no surprises among their inactive players, with all others on the injury report cleared to play.
