Why Jalen Mills’ Signing Makes Perfect Sense for Jets

For eight seasons, Jalen Mills has never been one of the top defensive backs in the league.

Jets Sign DB Jalen Mills To Practice Squad

Even so, the former seventh-round pick has found a way to not only be dependable but keep his career going after turning 30 years old. With the New York Jets signing the "Green Goblin" to the practice squad, they add a player with close to a decade of league experience at both cornerback and safety.

It also could be a sign that the Jets aren't completely sure that top players like Chuck Clark, Michael Carter II, or even D.J. Reed will be healthy for an entire season.

Carter is already dealing with an injury on his own at the current moment.

In reality, New York could do a lot worse than Mills if they are truly looking for a developmental safety and cornerback. It's Mills' versatility that can make him a commodity for a team like the Jets.

With his prior relationship with Joe Douglas dating back to his time in Philadelphia, the Jets seem like even more of a no brainer for Mills as he looks to save his future in the NFL.

After being cut by the Giants, it seemed that Mills' career was over.

Now, one of the top defenses in the league is looking to get just a big more out of him.
