Kyle Richards is the last Real Housewives of Beverly Hills OG standing, but is she ready to leave the show ahead of Season 15? Kyle was in the hot seat throughout RHOBH Season 14. Mostly because of her text messages with Dorit Kemsley’s estranged husband PK Kemsley. When she was confronted over these texts, Kyle stormed off. Then she took a week off filming.
She was also very defensive about criticism that she doesn’t show her real life. Viewers, co-stars, editors, and even Andy Cohen pushed back on her decision to hide Morgan Wade this season. And on top of everything else, Kyle had to navigate her separation from Mauricio Umansky. And deal with him publicly moving on. After this tumultuous Season 14, Kyle expressed doubts about returning to RHOBH.
In an interview with People, Kyle admitted she wasn’t sure about returning to Real Housewives of Beverly Hills Season 15 yet. And that she’ll have to “make that decision” soon, because “the clock is ticking.” Kyle also admitted she’s often uncertain about returning before filming. And then again “sometimes mid-season.” “So it depends on what year and what season, whether I can handle it or not,” she said.
Kyle explained why she has so much hesitancy about returning to RHOBH for her fifteenth season. “I mean, it’s very difficult for your life [to be] out there,” she explained, “and have the world weighing in on analyzing things and people not knowing you know the full scope of full details.” Over the years, Kyle tried to keep some details under wraps. For instance, she’s always been vague about exactly what led to her and Mauricio’s separation.
Kyle added that it’s difficult to experience people “judging you without being able to explain everything.” She emphasized, “It’s very difficult.” This season, Kyle got backlash for her roundabout explanations for certain things. Her attempts to explain texting PK, her real reasons for feuding with Dorit, the status of her and Morgan Wade, etc., didn’t satisfy viewers.
In addition to the last RHOBH OG left, Kyle is also a producer. However, there was another way she didn’t participate as much this year. For Season 14, Kyle admitted, “Honestly, I didn’t watch.”
The Halloween actress emphasized, “I don’t like saying that, because I do like to watch the show.” Although she added that she’ll usually only watch each season once. “But I like to watch even if it’s difficult,” Kyle said. “I like to watch the good end of that, but this season, it was just too challenging for me.” This was, after all, the first season where Kyle and Mauricio were separated. If viewers found their post-split interactions too awkward to watch, I can only imagine how Kyle would feel.
Kyle added that she didn’t watch the RHOBH Season 14 reunion because of “What was going on in my personal life.” However, she’s not avoiding it forever. “I want to go back now,” Kyle claimed. “I see so many clips on Instagram anyway … you feel like you see the show. But now I want to go back, now that I’m feeling a little better.”
Right now, the cast of RHOBH Season 15 is in flux. Recent rumors indicated that Erika Jayne could be downgraded to a “friend of.” This would be a major change. Next to Kyle, Erika is the second-longest-running RHOBH housewife.
But that’s not the only potential shakeup in the mix. A recent report claimed that RHOBH fans should expect some “shocking” cast changes. And, to be frank, some shocking changes are probably needed. After a strong start, RHOBH Season 14 became monotonous and dragged to the finish line. By the end of the reunion, some viewers called for a total reboot.
But if Kyle does return, there are two Season 14 stars who may join her. One is Season 14 newcomer Bozoma Saint John. Boz and Kyle didn’t get off on the right foot. And not just because Boz instantly befriended Dorit amidst her and Kyle’s feud. But things might be looking up. Kyle surprised viewers of her Amazon Live by saying their relationship is going “great.” She explained, “We’re texting. She’s great.”
Kyle was also asked about Dorit filing for divorce from PK. Some fans wonder if this drama guarantees Dorit will hold a diamond for at least one more season. For her part, Kyle expressed sadness and empathy over the whole thing. “That’s just always sad to me. I love her family and her kids,” Kyle said on Amazon Live. “It’s just sad. That’s all I can say about that.” Of course, one has to wonder if Kyle sent PK any texts (or memes) about the whole thing.
After heavily featuring the country singer on Season 13, Kyle refused to so much as say Morgan Wade’s name on RHOBH Season 14. If Kyle meant for this to shut down speculation about the nature of their relationship, it had the opposite effect.
Even Andy Cohen pushed back on Kyle’s insistence that Morgan Wade stay out of the public eye. After all, she’s a country singer. In one of the biggest RHOBH Season 14 reunion moments, Andy said, “I do just want to point out, putting out a music video that is like the two of you as lovers … contributed so mightily to a conversation that was already a runaway train, and that was totally in her hands.” He added, “It’s like, at some point, you can’t have your cake and eat it too.”
It’s one thing if Kyle isn’t as open and honest as she insists others need to be. But this season, the narrative was that Kyle is completely alone amidst her separation. And that Mauricio publicly moved on first. But if that’s not the truth, then Kyle isn’t showing her reality on a reality tv show. By refusing to mention Morgan, Kyle left out a huge part of her personal life. Even if they are just friends, the two are constantly spotted together, and Kyle often travels with Morgan on tour.
Andy pushing back indicates Kyle may not be able to leave so much out for Season 15. Kyle is entitled to her privacy. But if she isn’t willing to divulge too much on a reality show, there will be backlash. And if she doesn’t want to deal with that, it might be time to walk away. Maybe that’s why Kyle is hesitant about returning to RHOBH Season 15. We’ll have to see what she decides.
