Roman Anthony continues to tear the cover off the ball in a statement stretch of offense at Triple-A Worcester for the Boston Red Sox.
The one concern came with his reported bout with shoulder soreness. That kept Anthony off the field defensively since April 10 and poured cold water on any momentum for a deserved call to the big leagues for Boston’s top prospect.
Anthony did make his return to the outfield in Wednesday’s doubleheader against the Syracuse Mets and reintroduced his abilities with the glove with a diving catch.
The Red Sox prospect continued to mash and reached base five times between the two games Wednesday. He’s flirted with a .300 batting average and 1.000 OPS. His positive pressure on the Red Sox only continues to grow game after game. Boston will have to pave the way for him to have at-bats in the majors soon. His production deserves it.

Until then, the Red Sox continue on with Jarren Duran, Ceddanne Rafaela and Wilyer Abreu patrolling the outfield at a solid level. Anthony most likely fits in left, but the quality of offensive production from the three current starters could dictate where he eventually slides in at Fenway Park.
