Will Howard in Danger of Being Dealt Concerning Steelers News

Ohio State Buckeyes fans will be watching to see how the Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback situation plays out in the coming months as Will Howard begins his NFL career. Howard may have been a sixth-round pick, but the national champion quarterback faces a clear path to competing for the starting quarterback gig, as of now.

The challenge for Howard is things could quickly change in Pittsburgh. Right now, Mason Rudolph is Howard's biggest competition to becoming the Steelers new QB1.

There has already been plenty of NFL rumors that Aaron Rodgers could join the Steelers. Rodgers' public comments about his future indicate the star quarterback is in no hurry to make a final decision on playing for Pittsburgh.

Now, another veteran quarterback has emerged as a potential trade candidate for the Steelers. During an interview on "The Pat McAfee Show," NFL Network's Ian Rapoport labeled Pittsburgh as a top potential landing spot for Atlanta Falcons quarterback Kirk Cousins.

"So, the Kirk Cousins thing, I was kind of keeping track of and trying to figure like, all right, if he leaves Atlanta, where might he go?" Rapoport remarked on Monday.

"And I think if your good friend Aaron Rogers does not go to Pittsburgh, I think that would be a possibility. But it feels to me like the other possibilities kind of don't exist."

"If Aaron Rodgers doesn't go to Pittsburgh I think that's a possibility for Kirk Cousins..

It feels like the other possibilities kind of don't exist after the draft..

The longer this goes it feel like he's gonna be the Falcons backup"

Howard likely preferred to be drafted a lot earlier than the sixth round, but the Steelers present one of the clearest paths for a young quarterback to potentially play immediately. This could all change if Rodgers signs with the Steelers or Pittsburgh strikes a trade with Atlanta for Cousins.

Ohio State fans will be hoping that the Steelers are unwilling to take on Cousins' four-year, $180 million contract.
