Miroshnichenko improved exponentially following his rookie year, putting up 23 goals and 19 assists for 42 points in 53 regular-season games with the AHL's Hershey Bears while also earning 18 games up with the Capitals.

"I think (I got better) everywhere," Miroshnicehnko said of his game. "In D zone, offense zone... last year I a rookie, young guy, a lot of mistake. This year, maybe less mistake."

In the Calder Cup Playoffs, he added three goals and two assists for five points in eight games before Hershey's elimination in the second round, ending the team's bid for a three-peat.

"It's championship organization here," Miroshnichenko said in his exit interview. "Of course we want to win. It's good for guys, good for me, it's work hard all your life. We wanted to be better."

Still, it was a pivotal development year for the 21-year-old, who D.C. has high hopes for going forward. He showed he can be a key contributor and consistent scorer, as he showcased his speed and quick shot along with his vision and sharp offensive instincts.

As he heads into training camp, his eyes are on the prize as he looks to make the full time NHL jump. There are expected to be some spots up for grabs and stiff competition, and Miroshnichenko is ready to make his impact come fall as he and other prospects like Bogdan Trineyev try to crack the roster.

"I think I can (do) more, more, more," Miroshnichenko said. "More practice and skills."
