The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon is currently filming for its third season in Spain. The upcoming season will take the story from France to Spain, where Daryl (Norman Reedus) and Carol (Melissa McBride) will continue to make their way home to the Commonwealth. The comic story features Jeffrey Grimes, brother of Rick, who died in Spain during the early days after the outbreak. Could this series incorporate this character?
In The Walking Dead: The Alien, a brief 32-page story, fans are introduced to Jeffrey Grimes and read about his fight for survival in Barcelona, Spain. Many fans and media outlets have discussed Jeffrey and whether he may run into Daryl and Carol in the third season.
In the comic, Jeffrey encounters a woman named Claudia, who saves his life from walkers. Both are trying to get to America, he because his brother was hospitalized, and she because rumors have circulated that the US government has found a way to contain the outbreak. She informs him that she has a connection in Ibiza where an acquaintance can fly them to America.
They make their way through the sewers to the harbor and board the boat that they failed to notice was occupied by a walker. While trying to save Claudia, who fell in the water, Jeff was bitten. He gives her a message to relay to his brother, but dies before he can tell her where to find him.
The comic story kills him, but viewers of The Walking Dead universe know that comic stories can be rewritten for the series. And, if Daryl can't be reunited with Rick, it would be very cool for him to meet his brother.
Adding Jeff, a man who after surviving this long, would possess great survival skills and be a welcome addition to Daryl and Carol's plan of returning to America. How great would it be to see Rick reunite with both his brothers.
There have been no announcements indicating that Jeff has been cast for the spinoff but it is exciting to speculate.
The season 2 finale ended with Daryl and Carol making their way through the Chunnel to England, where they will then travel to Spain. Several new actors have been cast for the third season, including Emmy Award-winning actor Stephen Merchant, Spanish actor Óscar Jaenada, and more.
