Wobbly Cowboys Will Count on New Cornerbacks Early in 2025 Season

The Dallas Cowboys have one of the best cornerback duos in the NFL in Trevon Diggs and Daron Bland - when they are both healthy, that is.

And there is a good chance that will not be the case to start the 2025 season.

Diggs is still recovering from knee surgery that he underwent at the beginning of this year. The team selected East Carolina cornerback Shavon Revel in the third round of the 2025 NFL Draft, and he could play a role for the team early in his rookie year.

There is a slim chance that Diggs will be ready for Week 1 of the regular season - that is his ambitious goal - but it remains to be seen whether he will be at 100 percent when he comes back, so the team could need Revel to step up.

Dallas also traded with the Buffalo Bills to acquire 2022 first-round pick Kaiir Elam back in March. He did not get a whole lot of starting reps for the Bills, but he will argue, bust label aside, that the chance to really show he could get the job done was limited with the opportunities that he was given.

The Cowboys missed the playoffs for the first time since 2020 this past season, so the team's secondary will need to step up and perform to help the team get back to the postseason … where Cowbiys Nation believes they belong.

When Diggs comes back the unit will definitely get better. But until then, Revel, Elam, and the rest of the team's corners will have to prove in training camp that they can get the job done.
