When Woody Johnson made the surprising move to fire New York Jets head coach Robert Saleh, he did so with the belief that a change in leadership was needed to save the season.
Welp...now what?
Johnson's abrupt decision hasn't worked. The Jets have lost the first two games under interim head coach Jeff Ulbrich and four straight overall. Making matters even worse is the fact that Saleh's struggles with game management and keeping the team prepared are clear struggles from Ulbrich.
So what now?
The reality of the situation is that Johnson, an owner who reportedly listens intently to the whims of the Jets fanbase, made a rash decision to fire Saleh.
The team was 2-3 at the time and was coming off a difficult loss to the Minnesota Vikings. The Jets waited to fire Saleh a day after his Monday press conference returning from London, and instead made multiple coaching changes in under a week before their Monday night clash with Buffalo.
New York's four-game losing streak is a microcosm of a major issue that the Jets are dealing with.General manager Joe Douglas can be blamed for things, as can the players and interim staff, but the rash decision-making from Johnson has seemingly punted the season away and caused Gang Green to go another year of postseason-less football.
