Yankees' Juan Soto exits game vs. Twins with injury scare

Well, that's not good. The New York Yankees have been on an incredible run this season. A big reason for their success has been the excellent hitting of their two stars, Juan Soto and Aaron Judge. The latter has found his form after a tough start, while the former has regained his consistent hitting en route to a plus-.300 batting average.

Unfortunately, during the Yankees' game against the Minnesota Twins, Juan Soto was unexpectedly pulled out of the game. The report states that it was a forearm injury that caused the team to pull Soto from the game.

“Juan Soto left tonight's game due to left forearm discomfort.”

The Yankees-Twins game was stopped in the sixth inning due to inclement weather. Prior to that stoppage, Soto had walked up to the plate three times, walking twice and scoring once. The team pulled Soto from the game after the stoppage, leaving questions as to whether this was just a preemptive move to get the star rest.

That being said, star prospect Jasson Dominguez was also pulled from his Triple-A game at around the same time Soto exited the Yankees game. Fans are now wondering about the true nature of Soto's injury and whether he's alright or not.

Soto is currently playing at an extremely high level for the Yankees. In his first season for his new team, the star has a .319 batting average with an OPS of 1.027, well above the averages for the league. He's also hit 17 home runs in the season to just 48 strikeouts. Soto's best skill has always been his patience and his eye, and the Yankees are using that to full effect this season

It's not just Judge and Soto who are performing well this season for the Yankees' batting order. After an excellent rookie campaign, Anthony Volpe continues to impress. He's taken to being the leadoff hitter well, with a .290 batting average that allows him to get on base often.

Behind them, they have a reliable group of hitters in Alex Vergudo, Anthony Rizzo, and Giancarlo Stanton. For the longest time, the Yankees have felt like a team that solely relied on Judge to lead them to victory. It's the reason why, despite Judge's epic MVP season, New York failed to capitalize in the postseason of that year. This year, though, the Yankees feel much more balanced. Soto is there to pick up the slack when needed… not that Judge has been slacking in any way.

Unfortunately, the injury to Soto could cause him to miss some time (likely out of precaution). The fact that they seem to be preparing Dominguez to be called up signals that they're also preparing for Soto to be out. It's still the middle of the season, after all. You don't want your best hitter to force the issue and play through an injury that can be treated and rested first.

The Yankees currently sit on top of the American League with 45 wins after their game against the Twins. Can they keep up that form with Soto potentially headed to the IL?
