Three Yankees prospects are headed to Miami in return, according to Alden Gonzalez of ESPN.

“Source: The Yankees are acquiring CF Jazz Chisholm Jr. from the Marlins for three prospects, headlined by C Agustin Ramirez,” Gonzalez tweeted on July 27.
Ramirez is New York’s No. 20-ranked prospect. So any other prospects going in the deal can be expected to come from further down the franchise’s farm system.
Ramirez, who joined the Yankees’ organization in 2019, last appeared for the Triple-A affiliate Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders. He’s batting .224/.328/.364 with 4 home runs and 20 RBIs this season.
Chisholm had been one of the most discussed names ahead of the trade deadline. The former 2022 All-Star is slashing .249/.323/.407 with 13 home runs and 50 RBIs this season. He won’t hit free agency until 2027.
Jim Bowden: New York Likes Chisholm’s ‘Positional Flexibility’
Jim Bowden of The Athletic reported in the aftermath of the trade news that New York likes Chisholm’s capability to play multiple positions.
The #Yankees really like Chisolm positional flexibility with the idea he can play CF 2B and they think 3B too. He cane up as a SS…he profiles as a future 30/30 type offensive igniter….Yankees player leadership and influence led by Judge and Soto should really take his gane to…
“The #Yankees really like Chisolm positional flexibility with the idea he can play CF 2B and they think 3B too. He cane up as a SS…he profiles as a future 30/30 type offensive igniter,” Bowden tweeted on July 27.
According to Baseball Reference, Chisholm has made 95 appearances at centerfield and 3 appearances at second base for the Marlins this season.
Bowden added that the Yankees are counting on the leadership of Aaron Judge and Juan Soto to keep Chisholm’s loud personality in check.
“Yankees player leadership and influence led by Judge and Soto should really take his gane to another level,” Bowden tweeted.
Brendan Kuty of The Athletic wrote that New York is “likely” viewing Chisholm as their long-term second baseman.
“The Yankees likely would use Chisholm Jr. longer-term at second base,” Kuty wrote on July 27. “Torres will be a free agent at the end of the season. Chisholm won’t hit free agency until after the 2026 campaign.”
Jack Curry: Yankees Aren’t Done Dealing
Following the news of the Chisholm acquisition, Jack Curry of YES Network reported that the Yankees aren’t done dealing yet.

“Jazz Chisholm heading to the Yankees from the Marlins, Passan reports. I’m hearing the Yankees are pushing hard to finalize another deal,” Curry tweeted on July 27.
He added in a separate tweet that New York has had conversations with the Tampa Bay Rays.
The Yankees have had numerous conversations with the Rays, who have already dealt Eflin and Arozarena. Diaz, Paredes and Fairbanks could be trade targets.
“The Yankees have had numerous conversations with the Rays, who have already dealt Eflin and Arozarena. Diaz, Paredes and Fairbanks could be trade targets,” Curry tweeted.
Curry is referring to the pair of bats Yandy Diaz and Isaac Paredes, and right-handed pitcher Pete Fairbanks.
The 32-year-old Diaz is the Rays’ starting first baseman. He’s batting .272/.328/.394 with 8 home runs and 46 RBIs this season.
Paredes is the starting third baseman for Tampa Bay. He’s slashing .249/.356/.441 with 16 home runs and 55 RBIs.
Fairbanks is a sixth-year closer. He’s pitched 36.2 innings this season, allowed only 2 home runs, and thrown 34 strikeouts. He has a 3.19 ERA.
Jazz Chisholm Jr. is the first trade the Yankees have struck this trade cycle. But it doesn’t sound like it will be the last.
