You Won't Remember Tһаt Anotһer Sсreаm Aсtor Beаt Jасk Quаіd To Stаr Trek By 6 Montһs

Jack Quaid starred in five seasons of Star Trek: Lower Decks since 2020, but one of his co-stars from Scream (2022) beat him to Star Trek by six months.. As Lt. Brad Boimler, Quaid voiced one of the most lovable of Star Trek's new characters. Jack also brought Ensign Brad Boimler to live-action alongside Tawny Newsome's Ensign Beckett Mariner in Star Trek: Strange New Worlds' crossover episode with Lower Decks.

Jack Quaid Is Such a Nice Guy — It's What Makes Him the Perfect Prick

The recently ended Star Trek: Lower Decks was only one of Jack Quaid's popular roles. Quaid also stars as Hughie Campbell on The Boys. Jack appeared in Christopher Nolan's Oppenheimer and voices the Man of Steel in My Adventures With Superman. But Jack also plays villains. Quaid joined the Scream franchise's homicidal pantheon of Ghostface killers as Richie Kirsch in Scream (2022), which also stars Mason Gooding, who appeared in Star Trek before Jack Quaid.

Scream’s Mason Gooding Beat Jack Quaid To Star Trek By 6 Months

Mason Gooding Appeared In Star Trek: Picard Season 1

Close up of Mason Gooding in Star Trek Picard

It's easy to forget that Scream's Mason Gooding appeared in Star Trek: Picard season 1. Gooding portrayed Gabriel Hwang, the estranged son of Raffi Musiker (Michelle Hurd), in Star Trek: Picard season 1, episode 5, "Stardust City Rag." Gooding's Star Trek: Picard episode premiered in February 2020, six months before Jack Quaid debuted as Ensign Brad Boimler on Star Trek: Lower Decks in August 2020.

Mason Gooding's Gabriel Hwang was a minor role that nonetheless had a seismic impact on Raffi Musiker. The heartbroken Raffi was desperate to reunite with her son and meet Pel (Ayushi Chhabra), a Romulan who was pregnant with their baby. Hwang coldly turned Raffi away, but, in Star Trek: Picard season 3, Gabriel reconciled with his mother after she helped save the galaxy. However, "Stardust City Rag" was the only Star Trek: Picard episode Mason Gooding appeared in.

Mason Gooding & Jack Quaid Are In Horror Movies After Star Trek

The Horror Genre Has Been Good To Quaid & Gooding

Jack Quaid smiling and pointing a gun at Sophie Thatcher in Companion

After co-starring in Scream (2022) and their appearances in Star Trek, Mason Gooding and Jack Quaid continue their winning streaks of starring in horror movies. As Jay Simmons, Mason Gooding charms as he headlines the hit horror romantic comedy Heart Eyes opposite Olivia Holt as Ally McCabe. Gooding also reprised Chad Meeks-Martin in 2023's Scream VI, and he will return as Chad in the Kevin Williamson-directed Scream 7 in 2026 alongside his co-star, Jasmin Savoy Brown, who plays Chad's sister, Mindy.

Jack Quaid returns as Hugh Campbell for The Boys season 5, which is also the Prime Video superhero satire's final season.

Jack Quaid plays a great hero, but he also crackles with villainous intensity in his movie roles as a heel. In Companion, Quaid breaks bad once again as Josh, the worst boyfriend a robot named Iris (Sophie Thatcher) could ever have. Quaid will next headline the action gorefest Novocaine, where he plays Nathan Caine, who uses his inability to feel pain as a means to rescue his kidnapped girlfriend, Shari (Amber Midthunder). Lieutenant Brad Boimler would likely scream at Jack Quaid's horror roles.

Will Jack Quaid & Mason Gooding Return To Star Trek?

Star Trek Would Be Wise To Bring Back Both Movie Stars

Mason Gooding's appearance in Star Trek: Picard was a one-and-done, but there is always the possibility that Mason could reprise Gabriel Hwang. Star Trek: Picard ended with season 3, but hope remains alive that Picard's proposed spinoff, Star Trek: Legacy, might happen. Michelle Hurd would return as Commander Raffi Musiker in Star Trek: Legacy, and that could mean an on-screen reunion with her son, Gabriel, with Mason Gooding hopefully returning.

Between Mason Gooding and Jack Quaid, Star Trek owes a debt to the Scream franchise.

Star Trek: Lower Decks ended with season 5 in 2024, but Mike McMahon's beloved animated series still has plenty of dilithium in its warp core. It feels inevitable that Star Trek: Lower Decks will somehow return in the future, either continuing in animation or perhaps in live-action. Meanwhile, Tawny Newsome's in-development live-action Star Trek comedy seems tailor-made to reunite her with Jack Quaid, if it happens.
