While the Pittsburgh Steelers continue to wait on a decision from veteran quarterback Aaron Rodgers, the 2025 NFL Draft is inching closer.
This organization has no idea what it's going to end up with at the quarterback position for the upcoming season, and it cannot be just the fan base that's getting antsy.
If Rodgers finally makes a decision and signs with Pittsburgh, that move will make things a whole lot easier on the Steelers going forward. In the draft, specifically, a Rodgers signing would allow the Steelers to avoid making some big-time mistakes.

Steelers can target a difference-making defender in the first round
While much of the talk is about the quarterback position in terms of the draft, this team also needs to add a defensive lineman, and maybe two.
We're not saying the T.J. Watt rumors are going to amount to a trade, but regardless, this team needs to add another defensive lineman on the interior and potentially even on the edge. At 21 overall, there are going to be some very good defensive linemen for the taking.
Rather than taking one of them, the Steelers might reach for a quarterback like Jaxson Dart or, God forbid, Jalen Milroe, among others. This would be a colossal first-round mistake.
The Steelers can get a game-changing player later on rather than reaching for a quarterback
The Steelers do not have a second-round pick thanks to the DK Metcalf trade, and that's a round where you're likely going to see a run on running backs. That could be a bad thing for Pittsburgh, but just think about quarterback still being a need going into Day 2.
If the Steelers don't sign Rodgers, they'll be in dire need of a quarterback and, by default, running back will continue to get pushed down the priority list.
With Rodgers on the team, Pittsburgh can focus on filling out their running back room on Day 2 and, potentially, even trade back up into the second round if they value one of Quinshon Judkins, Kaleb Johnson, or TreVeyon Henderson.
Aaron Rodgers could help the Steelers avoid whiffing on a WR3
First of all, who knows whether or not George Pickens is around for the long haul. But, beyond him and Metcalf, the Steelers could still use a solid WR3. And, if Rodgers is on board, you have to believe he'd be involved in helping find that player.
With Rodgers, the Steelers could get some valuable input on a wide receiver whom the veteran sees as his type of target. Without him, we're not sure who the quarterback is and, thus, not sure what type of wide receiver will mesh with whomever is under center.
Rodgers comes with wanting power, but in this scenario, it's a positive. If he sees something special in a Day 3 wide receiver, you listen to him.
