There was some good news for the San Francisco 49ers in their final practice before their Week 3 matchup with the Los Angeles Rams, as both cornerback Charvarius Ward and defensive end Nick Bosa took part.
Ward had missed Thursday's session with hamstring and knee issues while Bosa was limited with a rib injury. Both appear on track to play after practicing on Friday, but there was bad news on the offensive side of the ball.
Tight end George Kittle did not participate in Thursday's practice because of hamstring tightness and he was not seen during Friday's session.
While Ward and Bosa are listed as questionable, Kittle is listed as doubtful.
If Kittle cannot go on Sunday, it would further increase the difficulty level for Brock Purdy, who is already set to be without running back Christian McCaffrey (calf/Achilles) and Deebo Samuel (calf), the former absent for a third straight game.
McCaffrey is on injured reserve and required to miss at least two more games, while Samuel is expected to be out a couple of weeks.
The saving grace for Purdy is that he is going against a Rams defense that, prior to Thursday Night Football, was ranked 31st in the NFL by Expected Points Added per play.
Los Angeles is also dealing with a massive injury crisis, which is why the 49ers are decided favorites on the road.
49ers-Rams final injury report
Former Offensive Player of the Year Cooper Kupp is out for the Rams with an ankle injury, as is tight end Davis Allen (back). Kicker Joshua Karty (groin), cornerback Cobie Durant (toe) and nose tackle Bobby Brown III (ankle) are all questionable.
The true scale of the Rams' injuries is illustrated by how many players they have on injured reserve.
In addition to wide receiver Puka Nacua, the Rams have four offensive linemen on injured reserve, including center Steve Avila, guard Jonah Jackson and tackle Joe Noteboom. Safety John Johnson III is also on IR, while corners Derion Kendrick and Tre Tomlinson have been ruled out for the season. In total, the Rams have 11 players on injured reserve.
Los Angeles did get some good news, with guard Kevin Dotson seemingly set to play despite a lingering foot issue. The Rams will also get tackle Alaric Jackson back from a two-game suspension.
