49ers' Trent Williams likely to play vs. Patriots; Christian McCaffrey back by early November?

NFL insider Ian Rapoport shared some news updates ahead of Sunday's Week 4 matchup between the San Francisco 49ers and New England Patriots. While it was already known that wide receiver Deebo Samuel, listed as questionable, plans to play, Rapoport revealed that another key player with a questionable status—tackle Trent Williams—is also likely to suit up.

Williams experienced toe soreness on Friday morning, which kept him from practicing, but indications suggest he could be ready for the game.

Rapoport also provided an update on the timeline for running back Christian McCaffrey, who has been sidelined with Achilles tendinitis. According to Rapoport, McCaffrey could return "at least" by early November.

Rapoport adds that McCaffrey's treatment in Germany last week seemed to have gone well. On Friday, head coach Kyle Shanahan announced that the 49ers plan to ramp up McCaffrey's rehab starting Monday.

General manager John Lynch added, " And now, Christian's back here, and at some point, we'll get [him] back," Lynch said. "We'll have to hit certain markers, and we'll try the ramp-up. And, God willing, the thing has quieted down, and we can build him back up in a really smart and thoughtful way."
