With the San Francisco 49ers set to play the Rams twice in 2025, as always as per their NFC West rivaly, an LA without Stafford looms as an "easier" task rather than having to face the Super Bowl winner.
But if Rams fans were hoping to see the back of No. 9 in L.A., well, Kelly Stafford has poured cold water on that, confirming that Matthew will be going around again in 2025. ... Unless ...
"It had been speculated that he wants to play again in 2025," Kelly said on The Morning After podcast. "That speculation is right. The thing is, there's a lot to figure out before that can happen. But you know, he had a great year. I was talking to him, and he's like, 'I know. I feel pretty good, you know. Not many injuries, no surgeries. Just the four cracked ribs and multiple injuries that were small but significant'. He would like to play in 2025. I'm excited."
So there you have it, the Rams will indeed be facing Stafford in 2025, with Kelly confirming the news. But what about that "unless''?
With the franchise making the move to trade Kupp, much is unsettled in LA. The Rams have defeated the Niners three straight times, so they have a watching interest here that might even be more keen than usual.
The NFC West in 2025 looks very much up for grabs, and of course Niners coach Kyle Shanahan has his sights on a San Francisco rebound in that department after a down and injury-riddled year.
