49ers WR Brandon Aiyuk throws shade at Rams ahead of Week 3 clash

The San Francisco 49ers have one of the best-traveling fan bases in the NFL.

49ers' Aiyuk throws shade at Rams ahead of Week 3 clash

So it should come as no surprise that they have a large contingency of fans planning to travel for this weekend’s matchup against the Los Angeles Rams. According to Vivid Seats, the 49ers are expected to occupy 62% of SoFi Stadium, which some are calling “Levi’s Stadium south,” on Sunday.

After hearing 49ers’ red will likely outnumber Rams' blue, star receiver Brandon Aiyuk couldn’t help himself from taking a shot at San Francisco’s division rival.

“It's going to be great,” Aiyuk said, via NBC Sports Bay Area. “We love going to play down there. We love seeing all the red down there. A little home dome stadium, so we're excited.”

This isn’t the first time the Rams have had an issue keeping 49ers fans out of their stadium.

During the team’s Week 2 matchup last season, L.A. couldn’t stop the Bay Area from infiltrating SoFi as two-thirds of the attendees were 49ers fans.

The 49ers dominated that game, winning 30-23, though the game wasn’t nearly as close as the final score might indicate as Rams head coach Sean McVey kicked a field goal as time expired to pull within seven simply to cover the point spread.

When the two teams meet on Sunday, both will be less than 100%. The Rams will be without both of their starting wide receivers in Cooper Kupp and Puka Nacua, while the 49ers will be without reigning Offensive Player of the Year Christian McCaffrey and star receiver Deebo Samuel.
